I've always loved the natural world; as a kid collected and set insects for display, was an avid bird watcher (and listener), and would get immensely frustrated with the limitations of my toy microscope.
My studies have been diverse but sadly, perhaps stupidly, never included science (excluding a few hopeful weeks before finding my late application to study botany was too late). Jack of all trades... master of none.
At present I work with primary school children, where my interest in science plus art and music provide a very handy bag of tricks. I enjoy making big things with the kids - a life-sized female Sumatran tiger, less life-sized humpback and southern right whales, sharks, fish etc.
I live in Port Lincoln, South Australia, own a couple of good workhorse microscopes, am a very average but enthusiastic photographer, and love the sea but not the cold.
I'm consciously making a bigger place for my nerdy childhood self in my life and thank all iNat contributors for making this such an incredible online world for all.
