My favorite childhood book was The Wonders of Life on Earth, a publication of Life Magazine -- a big, colorful, coffee-table book full of the wonders of nature around the world, and especially in the places Darwin visited on his Beagle voyage. That book has influenced every major life choice I have ever made.

At present, I am concentrating my reviews on the Greater Antilles. I spend a lot of time in the Dominican Republic, studying the plant life, birds, and lepidoptera.
