I was probably around 8 years old when my parents first took me to see the insect collection at CSIRO Black Mountain. "I'm going to be an entomologist!", I exclaimed proudly. After getting home I found a piece of cardboard and some pins and started sticking bugs, most of which were already dead...

Well, I didn't end up becoming an entomologist but my interest in plants and animals has stayed with me. I have no idea what I am looking at most of the time but am learning a lot with the help of iNaturalist and the fantastic community of knowledgeable and generous people here (thanks in advance for all the IDs).

I have a nice old Nikon Micro-NIKKOR 55mm lens (thanks, Mum!) on a D7000 body. Seems to do the trick but I still have a lot to learn :)
