Im retired now but actively involved with the restoration of our 100 acre family landblock located on the foothills of the northern Raukumara Ranges on the East Cape of the North Island of New Zealand. The landblock is split in half by a natural waterway with a picturesque waterfall down the middle which divides the 2 substrates. On the western slopes lie very large masses of basalt rock and on the eastern slopes lie mostly soft papa rock type.Rewarewa,Punga,Kanuka and Manuka populate the eastern slopes and almost all other native species are found on the western slopes. The entire block faces East and North and free of the southerly cold winds which gives the entire landblock the best use of the sun.
Ater more than 40 years working away from home here i returned in 2006 to begin a lifelong passion to save our land and restore for all to share and enjoy.Nil success with several funding applications have left future plans on hold for now but we struggle on with what we got and can do.Now that we have full internet cover over the block we can start to show you all the beauty that lies within the area known to us as TANGIKARORO NATIVE RESERVE. The block is 100% covered in native bush of all NZ known species except Kauri which did not come this far south. The dryer and warmer weather is not far away now so as soon as conditions are good i will start to post photos and videos live out from the park.I do have a website which has not been updated for sometime now but i will do so soon. You are most welcome to visit,, tangikaro.co.nz Thankyou,we will talk soon, arohanui,Wi Wanoa.
