Last seen at this site in 1996. At the time this observation was made there was 5 plants seen, all being swamped by Senecio hispidulus and S. hispdiulus x S. scaberulus. However, seed taken from this site in 1992 has been used to try and establish this species on Motuihe Island. Senecio scaberulus is still locally present on nearby Ponui, Pakihi and Rotoroa Islands.
