Description

Colleague recorded this sighting.
Did you know there are banded dotterels at Moa Point? There's a pretty scungy beach immediately to the east of the runway. I don't often visit
there, but I did on 28 Nov and saw one straight away. I hoped there might
be a pair breeding, but the other day I found about 6 and they all seemed to be adults. Not shy of humans at all - they came to within 15m. Sometimes when I have checked since there has been none evident. It's probably past nesting time, so interesting that I saw no young.
