Purtis Creek State Park

If you have never been to this park, you should give it a try. It is very nice with wide hiking and biking trails
They have wild hogs here, deer, coyote, bald eagle, fish, (catfish blue and channel, crappie, white sand bass and black bass). They have over two hundred bird species making for a great place for bird watchers. The Lake is 355 acre. Shaded campgrounds 30 amp service if you should need it, both for tent and RV's, 5 camp sites for tents (water only) 13 primitive campsites on Beaver Slide Nature Path hiking trail that you may walk or boat too. Free dump station for RV's if camping in the park. Fishing piers, fish cleaning stations and boat ramp.
Sand volleyball, large picnic areas, open pavilion.
They have, camping for RV nice concrete pad and tent sites, both are very nice sites. Very wooded and clean.

In 1977, Texas Parks & Wildlife Deptment acquired land from private owners. The U.S. Soil and Conservation Service built a dam as a flood control measure to impound Purtis Creek State Park and runoff waters in the mid 1980's creating a prime fishing lake.
Purtis Creek welcomed the public in 1988 and has a total of 1582.4 acres. It is located in an area where the Wichita and Caddo Indians once roamed.
3 separate trails (in all, 6 miles of hiking trails).
Fishing regulations, as of 9-1-18 Change from catch and release of Large Mouth Bass (with the exception allowing for possession and weighting for Bass 24 inches or greater for possible submission to ShareLunker Program) to a 16 inch maximum length limit and 5 fish daily bag limit.,
They have a small store for trinkets and bagged ice and bait in the (HQ) building

Park is located about fifteen minutes from First Monday Trade Days in and Splash Kingdom in Canton TX

Note; If you like Flea Markets, we have been to Canton Trade days a few times. It is an all day event. . We skip the animal sales in the town and just go right to the other. They have a little bit of new and old, with new flower arrangements, candles, furniture new baby items, food, canned jams and honeys and more. They also have an outdoor garage sale area with new and used and antiques. Something for everyone. Pretty cool place.
