7/5/21 Biodiversity update!

Hello everyone!
So far, we have identified 206 species around the Cedar Lake! This is with the help of everyone participating in the project. Our most heavily observed species include the Canada Goose, Red-winged Blackbird, American Robin, Mallard and Great Mulleins; But observations have ranged to species of turtles, frogs, toads, insects, mammals and snakes.
We would love to see further participation in discovering the biodiversity that lives in and around Cedar Lake, and are hosting another Bio Blitz event on July 10th. At these events, we check our snake and turtle traps to collect data for our research, as well as supply insect and water nets to use.

7/16/21 iNaturalist Project Update!

Hello everyone!
This last Saturday we held our sixth BioBlitz of the summer, and we wanted to share some of our interesting observations.
We found many interesting observations at Cedar Lake, including a Snapping Turtle, two American Goldfinches, a Great Blue Heron, and a second Dekay's Brownsnake under one of our snake boards. We also found and observed many other plants, insects, and birds.
We will be hosting our next BioBlitz on next Saturday, July 24th, and we hope to see some of you there to help us in discovering the biodiversity of Cedar Lake.

BioBlitz this Weekend!

Hello Naturalists!
This Saturday, July 24th, we will be hosting our 7th BioBlitz from 1-5 PM at Cedar Lake!
We will be checking turtle traps at 2pm, checking snake boards at around 3:30, and we're hoping to break the 250 species mark at this Blitz, so you can help us in making iNaturalist observations!
We always find great biodiversity at each BioBlitz, so come out to the lake and experience the fun with us this Saturday!
