Neighborhood Warning: Coyotes killing pets then napping in yards.

CARMEL MOUNTAIN (NEWS 8) – Coyotes are taking over a North County neighborhood and are killing pets in their own yards.

Carmel Mountain Ranch residents know all about coyotes in their canyon and the dangers they can cause. On Friday, they spread the word out to warn others.

The lesson here is that, given breeding success at a site, wildlife will return to that site.

Coyote With Tube Around Its Neck Spotted in Rancho Bernardo.

With the help of volunteers as well as staff from the Fund For Animals Wildlife Center, a non-profit animal rehabilitation center, Ryan set up an open cage with a coyote buffet in it, quail, rat and dog food, in an effort to trap the animal and get the tube off her neck. So far, her efforts have been unsuccessful but she said she is not giving up.

Wildlife experts trying to save coyote with a tube stuck around her neck.

Wildlife experts had been planning a rescue operation until photographs revealed something important. The coyote, seen in a San Diego neighborhood, appeared to have recently given birth. To remove her now, even for her own health, could imperil her pups. So they waited, until new photographs revealed something troubling.

Ensnared coyote rescued, still has piping around neck.

RANCHO BERNARDO, Calif. (KGTV) -- For more than one month a North County coyote has been spotted with what looks like piping around her neck. Thanks to determined residents, she'll soon get the help she needs to get the piping off.

Animal Control Unit Will Attempt to 'Haze' Coyotes as Sightings in Santa Monica Rise.

May 29, 2018 -- With sightings of coyotes in Santa Monica on the rise, the City’s animal control unit will boost attempts to “haze” them by using non-lethal objects such as air horns and water guns to instill fear of humans, City officials said.
