Each year, Lincoln University's Field Ecology Methods course, Ecol293, applies standard ecological sampling methods to one wild place in the wider Lincoln-Christchurch area. In 2016, we're in the residential red zone of Christchurch. That's the area in eastern Christchurch that was badly damaged by the two earthquakes of September 2010 and February 2011 and subsequently cleared of all houses.

This project contains all the observations made by the class.

We are sampling in old public parks in the red zone (the red sites on the map), paired public parks in intact suburbia (the yellow sites), plus two wildland sites (green sites) and we visit as many of the Avon-Otakaro Forest Park sites as we can (purple pins). less ↑
