Adding MVFN Turtle Watch project to your existing turtle observations

Hi All,
If you have already posted a turtle observation to iNaturalist that you want to submit to the MVFN Turtle Watch project, here’s what you can do.
1) Go/open your turtle observation.
2) On the right under the Project section, type "MVFN Turtle Watch" in the Add to a Project box; & select “MVFN Turtle Watch – Lanark County”
3) A page will appear with the two mandatory data fields required. Select the appropriate answers from the drop-down menu.

Note: Make sure to click the “Add” button on the right for each field.
4) Then, click the “Add to Project” at the bottom right and you are done!
Repeat the above 4 steps for each turtle observation that you want to submit to the MVFN Turtle Watch project.

Keep observing and sharing is fun!

Spring Lanark County project results

Hi, All MVFN Lanark County Project Observers:
The end of spring is already here. The MVFN Lanark County – Spring 2020 biodiversity project has been amazing to watch! Since the project was launched in early April, over 3,000 nature observations have been made by the members of the project. These observations have resulted in 1,100 species across all taxa. The top 3 taxa were plants (464), insects (365), and birds (123). The top observers for the project have been windstonefarms (1095) and ken_j_allison (1050) from the start with over 1,000 observations for each! Congratulations to all observers for increasing the biodiversity record of Lanark County!

MVFN Spring project being renamed

Hi again, MVFN Lanark County Observers:

This is not the end, as of this week, the “MVFN Lanark County – Spring 2020” project is being renamed the “MVFN - Lanark County Biodiversity” project. This Biodiversity project will continue to capture all nature observations across Lanark County made by its MVFN members and friends. Note: The Date range is being removed from the project, so all your past observations will also get captured.

Recently, the MVFN Conservation and Habitat Committee launched a Turtle Watch project using the iNaturalist platform. So for all your turtle observations, please make your postings directly on the Turtle Watch project page. For any other taxa and species, you can post your observations to iNaturalist using the generic upload button, and your Lanark County observations will automatically be collected and shared in the MVFN Lanark County Biodiversity project. Note: Observations posted to MVFN Turtle Watch will also automatically show-up in the Lanark County Biodiversity project.

Keep observing nature and have fun sharing!

Great news for the Biodiversity project!

Ken Allison has graciously agreed to help admin and curate the MVFN Biodiversity project. I would like to thank Ken for all his nature postings throughout the spring project and for also taking the time to help others with their observations (e.g. ID-ing, etc.). Going forward, I’m sure Ken will continue to help members with their observations but we can also look forward to some interesting Journal posts to give us some perspective and highlights on the progress of the Lanark County Biodiversity project.

Keep posting and have a GREAT summer!
