2021 NH BioBlitz Results!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the NH BioBlitz! With your help, thousands of observations were made on town lands all over the state, providing useful natural resource information to New Hampshire communities.

Over 300 people visited town-owned land in New Hampshire during September and submitted almost 7,000 observations! There were 1,166 species found in 106 NH towns. Local experts led walks at seven town-owned properties, where 115 people learned to identify insects, trees, dragonflies and more.

There were 10x more observations made on town lands this September compared to September 2020, and 4x as many species were recorded! These observations help NH communities learn more about their natural resources.

We're Halfway There!

Hello BioBlitzers,

We're a little more than halfway through the NH BioBlitz, and our team is so impressed with all of your effort to get out on town land and document what you're seeing so far! There have been 3,455+ observations by 160+ observers.

We've developed an online dashboard to keep track of some of the data that isn't obvious on the iNaturalist project page. Like, the number of plant species (2,232!), animals (423!), and fungi (698!) observed to date - all good reminders of how incredibly diverse New Hampshire is. We also have data on the number of towns with observations, and a town leaderboard to keep track of those communities with the most action. Visit https://bit.ly/NHBioBlitz2021Dashboard to check out these metrics.

There's still plenty of time to contribute. Visit extension.unh.edu/nhbioblitz for more information.

The NH BioBlitz Starts Now!

Good morning, everyone! It's September 1st, which means the NH BioBlitz - our month-long effort to inventory the biodiversity of town lands across New Hampshire - has officially started. It's just past 9am, and the project already has 7 observations from 3 observers. We hope you'll join us in getting out on a piece of town-owned land once, a few times, or every day during the month of September and share what you find - however you want to participate!

Welcome to the 2021 NH BioBlitz!

The 2021 NH BioBlitz is an effort sponsored by UNH Extension, in partnership with New Hampshire communities, to document as many species as possible on town-owned lands all over the state during the month of September. Town-owned properties are important local resources that make a difference in the New Hampshire landscape. Submitting sightings from these special places helps communities learn more about their natural resources and plan for future stewardship.
