We are very keen to get a handle on how often NZ Sea lions are using Aramoana Spit as a haul out area. Please post any and all observations of sea lions on and around Aramoana Spit. Thanks

The NZ Sea Lion has only recently returned to mainland beaches to breed. There are only a handful of breeding females on the Otago Peninsula and Catlins coast. Pups are born is late Dec- Jan.
We need sightings of any female (creamy/silver) sea lions or pups on the mainland. Unlike the smaller NZ fur seal NZ Sea Lions haul out on sandy beaches. For more info on NZ Sea lions go to ...more ↓
