Adults: Either brownish black or pied black and white. The pied morph has a white throat, chest and belly and white patches on the wings. The dark morph has a metallic green look to the wings and on both morphs the other black feathers have metallic blue look. They have dull purple skin, brown eyes and the beak varies from grey to dull brown or pink, and pink legs and feet. In breeding condition they develop orange fleshy growths on the face above the beak, and their purple facial skin brightens.
Juveniles: Either pied or black but paler skin colours than adults.
