Notoacmea elongata

Introduction 3

This is a small oval limpet with a thin shell. The top of the shell is at the front third of the shell. The shell is smooth, greyish green to light brown with many fine radiating dark lines or blotches. Extremely variable. It grows to 11mm shell length.

It is found on low shore in mud clinging to hard surfaces eg cockle shells. Often assocated with cockles (Austrovenus stutchburyi), top shells (Diloma subrostrata) and sea grass (Zostera muelleri)
