Description

Found 49 in the extensive shore deposits of barnacles, Balanus amphitrite, with Tilopia bones in about 15 minutes. I don't think any bladder snails ever lived in the Salton Sea. I believe these may be Pleistocene "fossils" from the Lake Coahuila basin from before the formation of the Salton Sea (Hanna 1963). I will be interested to learn more.

Description

One valve found in the extensive shore deposits of barnacles, Balanus amphitrite, with Tilopia bones in 15 minutes of looking. Nearly 30 species of marine invertebrates were deliberately introduced into the Salton Sea, including at least 14 bivalves (Carpelan & Linsley 1961), and others were accidently introduced with other species. I don't believe any bivalve species survive today.

Description

I was siting on the shore of a reservoir in northern white pine/hemlock/red oak forest. This bee buzzed in close like yellowjackets often do. I started to slowly usher it away with my hand and it immediatly latched onto the knuckle of my middle finger and began a prolonged sting. I flipped off into the water, but retrieved it. It died of its injuries an hour later.
