I also started a MS Natural Heritage Program's iNaturalist project for crowdsourcing observations. Our project looks for species of concern that are ranked S1-S3S4. In a nutshell, our ranking system is basically a scale of 1-5. An S-Rank of S1 means the species is really rare, while a S5 is a commonly occurring species (like deer).
