I am a retired guy who spent most of his working life taking care of yards in Lake County, Florida. My interest in native Florida plants came from working for the now defunct Lyman Goodnight Foundation which was managed by the McCracken family of Mt. Dora. Most of what I know I learned from Mary Ruth McCracken, a botanical artist, who, among her other works, illustrated the Lake County Water Authority's guide to the wetlands of Lake County. I enjoy wandering around Florida looking at stuff. I have a website, brownedbear.com, about some of my walks which, if you visit, you will see is a very amateur operation which gives me some pleasure to maintain.
