Bird feeders, due to how they encourage congregation, can be hotbeds of disease - such as avian pox, bird flu, and conjunctivitis. This project is for gathering observations of birds with these (or other) diseases, as well as birds with injuries that may be relying on the easy food of feeders to survive. If a bird has a disease not listed in the observation fields, it is highly encouraged to add it to the observation description when possible.
If you find a sick bird at your bird feeder, please follow the instructions here to ensure the disease does not spread further: https://feederwatch.org/learn/sick-birds-and-bird-diseases/
To help prevent the spread of disease, keep bird feeders clean and closely monitor the birds that visit to ensure they are healthy.
