Located on the Samoa Peninsula enclosing Humboldt Bay, halfway between Arcata and Eureka, the dunes of Humboldt Coastal Nature Center encompass a variety of vegetation types: there are open areas of native vegetation, and others that are occupied by annual grasses; there is a small forested area; willow thickets; vegetated deflation plains; and finally the foredunes fronting the Pacific Ocean.
