How long will these tolerate shade? Present plan is to cut leaves and smother tubers as much as possible, and reassess after seeing regrowth.

Digging is labour intensive, conducive to erosion on this bank, and may disturb tree roots.

This year a single pair of leaves has been found, pulled off as usual without worrying about the roots, and expected to succumb in due course as all the other Agapanthus have done, without digging.

In summary, we can confirm that squashing down, leaf-stripping and mulching over the plants kills them slowly but without effort or soil disturbance.
