This project is an attempt to document plant species that serve as larval hosts for Butterflies and Moths seen in India.
Please use the observation field "Host Plant ID" and add the exact species of plant if you know or the closest taxon that you can be sure of.
More on the observation field:

Observations may include images of ovipositing, eggs, caterpillars/larvae and pupae (only if pupae are observed on the actual host plant or if we clearly know the host plant, as pupae can often be seen on completely different plants or even walls or other surfaces)
The design of the project is such that when an observation is added to it, an “observation field” will pop up that must be filled (with the host plant ID information). The field is mandatory, else it would not make sense.
We are aware of there being a few different observation fields that serve the same purpose, but we are picking one that has widest use.
Of course, we may not always know the exact species of plant, and that’s okay. Let’s add species information if we know the plant, or else genus or whichever larger level taxon that we can be certain of (even at family level). And if we simply cannot determine the plant species from an image (say, it’s too far or blurry), let’s ignore that observation.
