Much remains to be discovered about the flora of New York and why plants grow where and how they do. This project was initiated in 2015 to expand upon efforts to document plant observations during class field trips. The primary goal was to build an online photographic guide to common flowering plants across New York while exploring ways to connect citizen scientists, improve accuracy in plant monitoring, and identify limitations to implementing monitoring projects.
In September 2017, we will no longer be tracking this project regularly; however, any observations of flowering plants in New York will still be automatically added to the project. We appreciate your interest and enthusiasm for learning more about the different plant communities of New York and hope this continues to be a useful educational tool moving forward.
