Taxonomy

Animalia Chordata Vertebrata Reptilia Squamata Sauria Agamidae Agama Agama finchi

Taxonomic notes: Wagner et al. (2011) investigated the distribution of this recently-described lizard, confirming records provisionally assigned to this species in the original description and erecting a new subspecies, Agama finchi leucerythrolaema, for a population from Uganda; these authors also assigned records from Gambela in Ethiopia to this subspecies. Records of Agama agama sensu lato from western Ethiopia and Eritrea depicted by Largen and Spawls (2010) in fact represent A. finchi (Wagner et al. 2011, citing S. Spawls pers. comm.)
