The Port Charles Rat Attack is part of Moehau Environment Groups kiwi habitat restoration. This particular block, "The Singing Land", is heavily pest controlled with rodent traps, mustelidae traps and felidae traps. Weed control is undertaken on a big scale with main emphasis on Woolly nightshade, kahili ginger, ink weed, Mexican devil, wattle trees and pines.
Trapping and weed control aid the improvement of habitat and food sources for Coromandel Brown Kiwi and other species native to New Zealand.
We have a very healthy kiwi population, north island robin and beautiful dark night sky.
