Description
The plant was a shrub, a thicket with thorny branches. The compounded leaves were green and saw-toothed. The flowers had the open, pink petals, with the yellow center. They grew in pure clusters in the sunny, yet wet Riparian Forest.

Description
Could be canyon Gooseberry or maybe hillside or Sierra gooseberry. Either way, found in hills/mountains. Not sure on its importance in ecosystem, but if you get past the prickly spines, then the juicy inner pulp is really good to eat raw or make into jam.
