My first flowering plant of Round Leaf Orchid and my 28th species of Orchid in the Middle Atlantic, USA, in flower. The several year slump is broken. This is a woodland Orchid and does not grow in bogs! This species has never been known from Catoctin Mountain Park and was found last summer. When I saw it, all the buds were open and there were eighteen flowers.
I only have one species for Japan Calanthe discolor which I found when I was there in the 1960's going to high school. My niece found a native species of Cymbidium there about ten years ago on a property my sister owns.
