Still dont know why it happened but while out birding this Sharpie landed on my head! Scared me at first and then amazingly it let me take selfies with it! Had no idea what it was until I started taking pics I was expecting a magpie not a hawk!

A family of Canada geese was seen at the Holiday Park, Bloomington, IL. Canada geese breed only once a year during the months of March, April or May. These new goslings were seen in late May. According to the GeeseRelief, it was interesting to know that, "The female chooses a mate based on his displays and how well she believes he can protect her. Canada geese are monogamous and mate for life. If one of the pair dies, the surviving goose will mourn and may eventually find another mate."

This observation is for the prey. This smallish alligator swam up with it already captured, tried for 20 minutes to toss it back, and in the end swam away with the duck still gripped in its jaws.

I've always wondered if the first image is work of a woodpecker/other organism, or just the tree's natural cork? If it's simply the tree, the tree's ID will do. Thank you! 🌲
