Observed this bat flying over the water and diving down into the water. At one point he went into the water and swam across the water to the opposite bank of the river. So strange to see a bat in the middle of the day!

This gelatinous strand was found attached to the underside of a floating raft. Strand was about 20 cm long, and forms a loop when removed from raft. Each green dot is about 1 mm. Under a microscope, this "algae" has eyes. So some kind of insect eggs? Best guess is chironomids based on a web page I saw.

Back when https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/55767879 emerged from the gall this was in, I cracked it in half to see what the chamber looked like
Turns out the larvae of this was still in there so I closed the gall up as well as I could and let it be.
I think it either caused damage or let it emerge too soon, because the legs do not work properly....

This species is a "gulper" of filamentous blue-green algae, and this individual seems to have had the protist equivalent of Thanksgiving dinner.
Here is an article which describes the implausible P. dubious eating process:
http://www.protistology.jp/journal/jjp35/11-Hausmann.pdf
According to the article, the giant strand of alga will be broken down within an hour. Unfortunately, I didn't follow the process that long.
