A 1967 snapshot in time, back before species protection and the TNC preserve. Per Kauffeld-inspired reverential respect, we carefully photographed and released these two specimens---which were found within 100 feet of each other. Golden memories....

This was the 2nd of two neonate willardi found on the same hillside - this one, within 100 yards of the first. Siblings perhaps? Note that this was the same hillside as the gravid adult female from one month prior (see my other observation below - https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/234643496 )

Pretty sure this is a hybrid rattlesnake. I believe it is between Crotalus ornatus and Crotalus viridis as both occur in the area and this snake displays characteristics of both.

Rare but highly distinctive endemic of the understory of pine forests south of El Salto, Durango. This is a rarely documented species, but it should be looked for in this area of Durango. This observation is also documented with an herbarium collection, M. Egger 1287, WTU.

Description
This snail's shell is about 2 cm and was found in a large shady, semi-moist rocky canyon near a running spring in the Organ Mountains. The ability to withstand extreme dessication give the desert snails incredible recognition. Though I have yet to find a living snail in its shell in the desert.

I had been trying and failing to get some pic's of a Stellar's Jay for about 5 minutes in the shade of this same tree and had that "being watched" feeling. He was about 10 feet up the tree and never budged for the 10 minutes I was there

The caterpillar was found inside my home during a bad rain storm so I kept it safe indoors. It immediately started cocooning the next day, so I decide it to keep it safe indoors until it’s day of coming out. It was released as soon as it seemed to be able to walk without wobble.
