Was accidentally hooked in the eye/gill with a Sabiki ring while fishing for mackerel. fish was kept to use as bait since the chances of it living after releasing it were very low.
5 black spots unlike the alewife and blueback herring who only have 1 black spot.
peritoneum was white, not black like the blueback herring or pinkish like the alewife
