This was a california quail I saw today at Green Gulch in west marin. Notice the two top knots or plumes. Has anyone ever seen that before? I haven't.

So far I haven't found any pics of one with quite this color pattern, though pics of L. dennyi look the closest. Thought it was a slug or a flatworm so I foolishly tried to pick it up to put it in a dish for more photos and it swam away.
