Another of the various edible Lomatium Buscuitroots. Early spring flowers.

Did collect a few leaves from neighboring plants... tastes like a strong parsley from your spice collection. I regularly eat the leaves... and also the roots, raw and dried. When dried they remain edible for a very long time...have stored the dried roots of Lomatium species and forgot about them for over a year... and they were good and glad I found them, three thousand miles away while missing this area.

Foraging for some additions to tonight's dinner and for future enjoyment... you can dry out the biscuitroots and they are good for a year... or more and remain as tasty as they can be. I always eat and/or collect plants for later consumption on every hike, and I do mean every hike... it connects you to the land... to Nature. Probably inspired from my Ojibwe connection. You can also grind them up and mix with other plants into dry cakes for a real granola bar experience.

The last photo has some other notable tasty additions for any meal. Just know the deadly lookalikes, which for many are strikingly different.

Appreciate help with the species.
