While I was collecting plant samples in the Johnson's Pasture area of the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, this male velvet ant flew in and landed on the ancient Kroger tote bag I was using to carry my samples. I kept dumping it off, as I didn't want to carry it home or get stung while putting my samples in. It really liked that tote bag, though, and kept getting back on it.
Not sure of species. Perhaps D. aureola?
