I found two caterpillars on Wafer Ash (Ptelea trifoliata) in my yard. I thought they had to be giant swallowtails at first, but then found reference to eastern tigers also using this plant. I also found an egg that was orange on the plant which would indicate a giant swallowtail, but it was also a tiger swallowtail.

I put them in an enclosure to raise and document and then released the adults. The later instars and the adult are linked to this observation using the observation group field.
