What a sight to behold, if you peer into the structure built around the area where Pioneer Springs seeps out of the ground in Meeman-Shelby Forest--salamanders everywhere, and the whole area glittered with their eggs!

5 different salamanders found. photo of 2 only. I can now see how this is a long-tailed, thank you both for the correction. From what I can gather, cave salamanders have less spots and the spots are more uniformly round (unlike the ones I've found that have several spots/blotches with vertical markings on the sides and on the tail).

Description
My family found this salamander recently while we were hiking in Prentice Cooper State Park. The salamander was on slick rocks along the side of a creek that we were wading through. The coloring of the salamander either suggest that is is not safe to be eaten or touched or that is uses a form of mimicry to make its predators believe that it is some other more dangerous salamander that may kill the predator if ingested or touched.
