The tortoises are on the move, following late summer rains 2 days ago. This little one was wandering down the middle of the river crossing. The back of his shell near his tail was chipped off, and I couldn't see a tail.

Second one of the day, seen during Yellow-billed cuckoo surveys within 20 meters of the first one. It had rained the previous evening.
Empty ornate box turtle shell. Scutes were scattered on the ground nearby.
While checking the trail I passed this little one. Very nice markings. It was just sitting in the middle of the trail when I saw it from about 10 meters away, not moving.
Found during a Yellow-billed cuckoo survey. The humidity was 85%, and it had rained the previous night. Found in the mesquite. First of 2 seen this day.
