I saw this loon dive in the middle of the pond as i was driving by. I stopped and hid behind the guard rail and waited for it to surface. Recent roadside brush cutting has increased visibility from shore. The loon surfaced just a few metres off shore and i had to decrease my zoom to capture the loon in a single frame. As you can see the Loon remained low in the water and dove again quickly.
a Cormorant on the island picking up sticks for its nest
a single adult eagle perched in a tree overlooking the ocean
a mother and her 9 ducklings. first sighted on the shore but quickly moved into the water.
Based ONLY on the photos, I think they're American Golden Plovers, but I'd be happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.
a pair of Terns resting on rocks.
Two terns in some sort of aerial antics. Loud vocals would alert me to their position in the sky when i would lose sight of them. Wondering if this is mating behavior.
A single Tern flying over this small pond. This pond is home to Trout, Salmon, and a population of freshwater Stickleback.
