Description

I found this animal in an urban area in and around a patch of grass. I would describe this animal as gooselike with some sort of red patch around both of its eye, black-blue feathers with some white mixed in, two webbed feet, and a short neck. When it moves it seems to extend its neck out first then move the rest of its body out. You can see it in the first picture because the neck is back and the rest of its body is to the front. According to the RSPB, an all black grouse with a red stripe around its eye is a male, therefore the grouse in the picture is a male. Although you can find a black grouse year round, I tend to see more out after its rained probably because it now has water. Also when it has rained, its easier for animals to find something to eat from the grass.
