on eroding slope of phosphate mine. From soil
Secotioid. Taste slowly acrid (after ~10 seconds). Odor not distinct. Some subtle, slow tannish staining. Oak-dominated hardwoods, probably associated with oak. Most caps half buried or mostly buried in soil, and under layer of leaf litter, in an area that is covered with water for months every year, and the majority of the year in wetter years. Caps ranging from ~5 to ~20 mm wide. Cuticle pallid, with a couple caps showing a russula-like pinkish hue. Gills initially light cream, seeming to yellow with age.
At base of spruce with lots of hemlock around. Tastes of radish and smells mild to strong. One part got nibbled and the damaged tissue displayed impressive fluorescence under 365nm.
