These mushrooms were found in San Ramon, California in a grassy area off a trail on May 3rd, 2020. The identification of these mushrooms is Tricholoma Murrillianum.

The observed behavior of these mushrooms was that they grew all next to each other not very spread out and were in a shaded area beneath a tree with grass and other a few other plants surrounding. Tricholoma Murrillianum has a few unique markings on top and has white-ish rounded tops. I found it while walking on the trail and was excited to find some bigger mushrooms. I like how rounded the tops are and they remind me of what I picture in my head when someone says mushrooms.
After doing some research, I found that they are in fact edible and humans can eat Tricholoma Murrillianum. They are firm with good flavor, have a spicy odor, and have a meaty texture.

Trying to figure out what this bulbous thing is. It looks like it exploded after a few days.

Do we think it is a puffball? I have a toddler and just want to make sure if her gets some on him or ingests any that it isn’t going to make it terribly sick or anything. Thank you!
