Growing on a tree trunk
Growing on a fence
A tall plant with a thick erect stem covered in numerous wicked spines. The devil’s club is a shrub found in rainforests, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. It has palmately lobed leaves that are large with thorns at the bottom, and may grow large clusters of red berries. The wide, lobed leaves show reticulated veins and toothed margins, with some leaves being as large as a dinner plate. They are attached to the prickly stem in an alternating fashion and lay parallel to the ground. This particular plant is about waist to chest height, just tall enough to beat you in a fight should such a chance arise.
