Description

Lots of seedlings coming up in the Reserve. DOC has been controlling them but oh so many more coming up... the Reserve is surrounded by plantation forestry and wilding sources so will need ongoing control until all seed sources in the vicinity are removed...

Description

Occasional in rough ground on margins of footpath leading though park. Associated with Solanum nigrum.

Inflorescences umbellate. Stamens (when fresh) 1.2 mm long. Corolla stellate, corolla lobes narrow. Calyces of maturing fruits deflexed.

Description

Think this is opacum. Calyx lobes appear to peel back and stamens appear right length. Fruit very shiny, though.

Description

Common in wasteland near Waahi Tapu (Owairaka Spring). Inflorescences umbellate, flowers mauve-coloured (an unusual colour morph in New Zealand), stamens 0.8-1.2 mm long, mature fruits scarce (and not shown here) but those seen with broad, reflexed calyces.

Voucher collected.

With Scotch thistle underneath, which was uprooted and used as mulch supporting wood chip mulch above
