On soil; subalpine conifer forest
Found with James Chelin on a Telluride Fest foray.
Found in aspen forest
Found a cluster of caps in an irrigated area in the shade below a juniper tree. Possibly growing on cow & deer dung.
Spore print is black. Spores are elliptical and olive green with a visible germ pore. Immature spores are lighter, and more olive. Mature spores are dark, almost black but still olive toned. The spores looked like images I saw of Panaeolus foenisecii and Panaeolus olivaceus but I could not tell if the surface was rough or smooth with my microscope. I didn’t get any images of the spores but I can try if that would be helpful. I dried and saved some specimen. I did not observe any pleurocystidia but I’m a novice and wasn’t really sure where to look for them.
Gills on mature specimen are very dark black. Immature caps have brown gill edges that become darker towards the attachment point. If I can provide any more info, let me know what to look for. I’ve found several flushes in the same location.
