Description

Elaeocarpus culminicola

Growing in remnant rainforest along a creek.

Leaves simple, toothed, no latex, no oil dots, no domatia, 110-150 mm long, 30-40 mm wide. Petiole quite long, 50-60 mm and swollen at base and less so at tip, stipular scars present.

Racemes appear on the main stem mostly below the leaves, up to 85 mm long with 10-12 flowers which have a somewhat unpleasant fragrance. Small glands visible on the raceme around 5-10 mm from base.

Note: This is the same tree I observed earlier this year when fruits were seen: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/47232619
