Habitat: muddy water and water squeezed from Sphagnum in a swamp. Associated plants: Carex cf. nigra. This specimen was observed six days after collection.
Habitat: mud at the bottom of a stagnant part of a shaded stream. There was a thin iridescent film at the surface, presumably from iron-oxidizing bacteria.
Photo taken with a Celestron PentaView Digital Microscope. According to their website, the FOV (i.e. the diagonal width) at 100× is 600 µm.
