I think it’s a Tatahi skink. Oligosoma “Three Kings, Te Paki, Western Northland”.

Beautiful gecko, likely female, crawling around in matagouri/ kanuka/ Coprosma propinqua, enjoying a sunny day.
A secondary goal was to see some more McGregors, and this was achieved.

Mating? They were like this for at least 5 minutes. Found under a rock.
Found in stream near entrance to Varirata National Park.

I’m not a gun with turtles as I mostly see Leatherbacks so a positive I.D on this would be great.
Not the best photo as when I pulled the camera out, I got a tsunami warning on my phone so had to make other plans! I was later told that this was a black turtle but any confirmation would be appreciated…
