According to her, first time she sees it in that location, where a flock of Banded Dotterel usually hang out. In her own words: "I go all the time to look at the Banded dots - and I noticed it straight away, it was very bossy."

Sapling 1.2 m tall growing in riparian forest. Evidently this Three Kings endemic is now commonly seen naturalised along the Waitakere coast. Naturalisations stemming for garden plantings in places like Piha, Karekare and Muriwai.

Washed up tyre on the shoreline has created a 'pot plant' for the grass to grow in.
