This ground squirrel was seen on the upper bank of Lake Ralphine. He had constructed a complex burrow system, which was evident from the surface.
Seen growing in a relatively open canopy part of the mixed oak woodland.
On Valley Oak (Quercus lobata).
This specimen measures about eight meters in height. Although this tree can be found as a native in much of the Sonoran Desert, this locus may be slightly north of its native range.
Cool to see this native host along a wet stream: explained all the Red Admirals seen this day.
Seen in bloom in a grassy rocky area near the ecotone with an oak savanna.
