Ever wonder why hermit crabs need a snail shell to hide in? Check out their little naked bootie! Actually their abdomen, this species is more likely to jump out of their shell when picked up and this guy was sitting right next to its molt. A good reason to NOT buy shells while on vacation is, mollusks are so scarce in some places that the hermits have to find a suitable piece of garbage!
